Each year we host the state's only state-wide contest for original literature in Spanish. The contest is named after Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, O.H.S. (12 November 1651 – 17 April 1695). Two prizes are given: for writer whose primary language at home is Spanish, and for those whose primary language is other than Spanish.

The submission guidelines are distributed in April and entries due by the end of May. Judging is done over the summer and winners announced in the fall. The prizes are given as part of the Utah Humanities Book Festival in September-October. To add your name to our mailing list, please contact admin@artesmexut.org.
