Esta publicación anual es un testimonio del poder perdurable del arte en sus diferentes expresiones para trascender fronteras, culturas y el tiempo. Es una invitación a sumergirse en un mundo donde la escritura y el arte fungen como un espejo de la sociedad, reflejando sus alegrías, tristezas, sed por la justicia social, su identidad, naturaleza, sus recuerdos, emociones e historia, así como reflexiones sobre la vida y la muerte.

This annual publication is a testament to the enduring power of art to transcend borders, cultures and time. It is an invitation to immerse yourself in a world where art serves as a mirror of society, reflecting joy, sorrow, thirst for social justice, identity, vision of nature, memories, emotions and history, as well as reflections on life and death.

Nuestra misión es promover la apreciación del arte mexicano en Utah con el propósito de crear comunidad unidas a través de la cultura.
Usamos la belleza del arte mexicano para reflexionar, analizar y unificar a miembros de la comunidad de todas las edades y etnias para aprender más sobre México, su historia, cultura y sociedad.
Este premio se realiza en honor a Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, O.S.H. (1651-1695), una monja mexicana del s. XVII, quien fuera una de las más brillantes intelectuales, poetas, y autoras de su tiempo y en la actualidad. Sor Juana fue nombrada la “décima musa” en su época debido a su ingenio al escribir poesía, así como por sobresalir en filosofía, música, y las ciencias. También fue conocida por defender los derechos de las mujeres y las minorías,
por lo que ella continúa siendo una inspiración hoy en día. El trabajo de Sor Juana se enseña en escuelas y universidades de habla-hispana alrededor del mundo.
Este concurso brinda una gran oportunidad a aquellas personas que escriben y se inspiran en el idioma español, la segunda lengua mas hablada de Utah. La inspiración de los participantes suele ser la sed por la justicia social, su identidad, la naturaleza, sus recuerdos, emociones, cultura, e historia, así como reflexiones sobre la vida y la muerte.
Gracias a los concursantes galardonados de poesía y prosa. Esta publicación es el resultado de su inspiración, causa motivante para muchos en nuestra comunidad.

Our mission is to promote the appreciation of Mexican art in Utah and create a community united through culture. We believe that the beauty of Mexican art can serve as a way to reflect, analyze, and unify community members of all ages and ethnicities. Our goal is to help people learn more about Mexico, its history, culture, and society.
This award is dedicated to Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, O.S.H. (1651-1695), a Mexican nun from the 17th century who was known for her exceptional intellect, poetry, and writing. Sor Juana was regarded as the "tenth muse" of her time due to her brilliance in various fields, including philosophy, music, and science. In addition, she was a champion of women's and minority rights, making her an inspiration to many even today. Sor Juana's work is taught in Spanish-speaking schools and universities worldwide.
This contest provides an excellent opportunity to those people who write and are inspired by the Spanish language, the second most spoken language in Utah. The inspiration of the participants is usually the thirst for social justice, their identity, nature, memories, emotions, culture, history, and reflections on life and death.
